Background: Cystic Echinococcosis is zoonotic infection and globally distributed in most pastoral and rangeland areas of the world. There are many different species of Echinococcosis cause specific disease in humans. E.granulosus (cystic echinococcosis) and e.multilocularis (alveolar multilocularis) are high rates in Mongolia. E. granulosus results in the development of one or several unilocular hydatid cysts that in humans develop mainly in the liver (70%), but also lungs (20%) and 10% of cysts can occur almost anywhere in the body. Liver hydatid cyst’s medical symptoms are non-specific. Diagnosis of CE achieved by diagnostic imaging, especially ultrasound examination is good choice of screening methods. The advantages of an ultrasound study are less expensive, usually painless for patients, time saving, and it provides clear image of soft tissues which do not show up in X-Ray images. The WHO developed classification system. That system include 6 different stage of CE development. Such a classification system enables a standardized approach treatment based on diagnosed stage. Matherials and Method: This retrospective study evaluated 62 children who were referred to outpatient clinic of National Center for Maternal and Child Health in Mongolia during 2015 to 2018. Medical records who had definitive liver hydatid cyst were included and analysis of variables such as age, gender, symptoms, citizenship, hospital stay, diagnostic investigation, were evaluated. Findings: The patients consisted of 24 (38.7%) boys and 38 (61.3%) girls with an age range of 4-16 (mean 11.04±3.35) years. The Geographic data include 11 patients from western region (max=5 in Bayan-Ulgii province), 8 patients from khangai region (max=4 in Bayankhongor province), 25 patients from central region (max=9 in Umnugovi province), 1 patient from eastern region and 17 patients from capital city Ulaanbaatar. The patients had totally 122 cysts, as result 46 patients had 1 (minimum occurance is one) hydatid cyst of liver and 16 patients had 2 or more (maximum occurance is 37)number of hydatid cysts. About hydatid cyst measurement, most smallest cyst 2.8 cm in diameter, most biggest cyst 13 cm in diameter. As a result, 40 (64.5%) patients had hydatid cyst in right lobe of the liver, 15 (24.2%) patients had hydatid cyst in left lobe of the liver, and 7 (11.3%) patients had hydatid cyst in both lobe of the liver. According to the WHO’s classification, there are 40 (64%) patients with CE1, 5 (8.1%) patients with CE2, 10 (16.1%) patients with CE3a, 3 (4.8%) patients with CE3b, 4 (6.5%) patients with CE4, and there is no CE5s. Follow up this survey, 45 (72.6%) of total are in an active form, 13 (21.0%) patients in transition form and 4 (6.5%) patients in inactive form. Conclusion: Most of (80%) liver hydatid cyst in children were active and CE1 type. Active and CE1 liver hydatid cyst in children rate is high indicating that there is a maybe risk of complication, to infect other person. In our study cysts were seen most commonly (62.5%) in right liver lobe. The active hydatid cysts are confirmed by microscopic examination.
