Background: Prosthodontic treatment does not end with placing dentures in the mouth. By monitoring the adaptation process of the denture, conducting re-examinations and maintaining oral and dental hygiene, the treatment will be successful by maintaining the health of the supporting teeth, hard, soft tissues supporting the denture. Microorganisms on the surface of the denture base will cause oral mucosa and organ system diseases, so it is important for people who wear dentures to learn denture hygiene and wearing the denture properly. The denture base compress mucosa under the denture base, resulting in pain or traumatic ulcer due to short-term histological changes. Traumatic ulcers are most common in 24-48 hours after a new denture is placed in the mouth. The main reason for the traumatic ulcers were related to the elongation of the border of the base or the imbalance of the dentures. In the treatment of oral mucositis, HiOra-SG gel was effective in healing oral mucosal ulcers, reducing mucosal swelling and pain. The reason for conducting this study was to investigate the possibility of shortening the healing time by using herbal preparations in the healing of ulcers that occur after wearing dentures. Aim: To study the effect of herbal preparations on the ulcers of removable denture Materials and Methods: We collected and processed data after performing a clinical trial study that was conducted at the Central Dental Hospital of MNUMS. Results: The HiOra-SG group experienced reduction in pain by the second day 1.5-fold, by the third day 1.7-fold, and by 4th day 3.2-fold compared to the sea buckthorn oil group. The average size of ulcers on the first day was 0.6 cm, HiOra-SG group ulcer was reduced to 0.21 cm on 4th day. On the other hand, the ulcer was reduced to 0.26 cm on the 4th day in the sea buckthorn oil group, by the 7th day ulcer was reduced to 0.05 cm. By the 7th day of treatment, the ulcer had completely healed in the HiOra-SG group, while the ulcer had not completely healed in the sea buckthorn oil group. Comparing the size and healing status, we divided them into flexible, acrylic denture and cast metal denture groups according to the type of denture. The ulcer of cast metal dentures treatment time was less than the other group. Smoking has been shown to have an effect on ulcer healing. Conclusion: The herbal gel used in our study showed an effective therapeutic effect on pain and ulcer, indicating the need for further investigation of its efÏcacy.
