Background: In Mongolia, the incidence of breast cancer in 2021 is 16.8 cases per 100.000 population, 90% of them are diagnosed at a late stage, and 45.5% live more than 5 years later. Women’s lack of knowledge about breast cancer and lack of understanding of breast self-examination are the main reasons why breast cancer is diagnosed at a later stage. Aim: To clarify the factors influencing the diagnosis of breast cancer at a late stage. Materials and Methods: From January 14, 2019 to November 3, 2021, a total of 280 physicians who were diagnosed with breast cancer /C50/ and underwent surgical treatment at the National Cancer Research Center were studied through retrospective research. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 53.7±9.4. In women, the duration of the delay in the presentation of symptoms was calculated: 139 (49.6%) were less than 3 months, 141 (50.3%) were more than 3 months, and the average time was 2.2 years. 1 month or less was 116 (41.4%) and 164 (58.6%) was more than 1 month. When estimating breast cancer risk among women, 71.1% (mean score≤1.66) were at average risk and 28.9% (mean score≥1.66) were at high risk. Conclusions: 1. The average time from the first visit to the doctor, from the first breast symptoms to the consultation was 2.2 years longer. There is a need to study the causes of breast cancer diagnosis delay among women and to calculate the risk for each individual. 2. There is a need to further study the causes of breast cancer diagnosis delay among women. 3. The risk of breast cancer among women needs to be calculated for each individual.
