Background: In traditional Mongolian medicine, the lung is the center of the internal respiratory organ system and is the only organ in direct contact with the external environment among the five solid organs. Hypersensitivity cough is a chronic inflammation of the airways involving eosinophil cells. The pathogenesis of postinfectious cough is unknown, but it is thought to be related to disruption of epithelial integrity or inflammation of the upper or lower respiratory tract. In 2021, a total of 258,788 people fell ill with respiratory diseases, of which 108,483 were registered in Ulaanbaatar. The study aims to compare the effect of Darav-5, which is used in Mongolian traditional medicine, on respiratory hypersensitivity and post-infection cough with standard drug treatment. Aim: To investigate the effects of Darav-5, which is used in Mongolian traditional medicine, on cough caused by respiratory hypersensitivity and post-infection, and compare it with standard drug treatment. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted using an Open Label method, divided into four treatment groups by random sampling in a randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) method. In this study, a total of 130 people were included in the study by random sampling in a randomized controlled clinical trial. Treatment (65) and comparison (65) groups were divided into two groups, and drug treatment was performed using single blinding. In the treatment group, the Darav-5 recipe was mixed with one teaspoon of 5 g Darav -5 in a cup (150 ml) of warm water before meals and taken twice daily for seven days. In the comparison group, the drug (montelukast) for respiratory hypersensitivity cough was taken once a day at 9 pm for seven days. Results: Darav-5 enriched with honey was not statistically significant compared to hypersensitivity and postinfectious coughs. However, when Darav-5 is enriched with honey and standard medicine, the frequency of cough and cold per day is statistically significantly reduced. The treatment rate was 5.4% higher in the honey-supplemented Darav-5 group than the standard drug group, although there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusions: Darav-5, enriched with honey, has the same effect as the standard drug group in cough relief for allergic and postinfectious coughs.
