Abstract

Background: In order to effectively cope with emotions during sports, managing, regulating, and controlling emotions is an important factor that can influence success. Sports have a positive effect on the simultaneous development of multifaceted abilities, and the athlete’s emotional control while performing physical activities affects the performance of activities based on multifaceted intelligence, and the daily challenges that athletes face affect the high level of multifaceted intelligence. I decided to do this research. Aim: To study emotional intelligence and multifaceted intelligence of athletes. Materials and Methods: We started our research by obtaining permission from 119 athletes who train in the sports hall of the Aldar Sports Committee, the Central Sports Palace, and the Jenko Sports Club under the Armed Forces of Mongolia between March 2023 and April 2023. The level of psychomotor intelligence was measured using the “EmIn” model developed by D.V. Lusin, and the level of multiple intelligence development was measured using H. Gardner’s MI (Multiple Intelligences) test. Results: As a result of our research, the mean scores of emotional intelligence, managing one’s own and others’ emotions, and understanding and managing interpersonal emotions are higher than those of understanding and managing own emotions, but at the average level, interpersonal intelligence of multifaceted intelligence, physical intelligence is relatively higher than other indicators. Emotional-motor intelligence has a moderate positive correlation with verbal intelligence r=0.41, logical mathematical intelligence, musical intelligence, spatial intelligence, physical intelligence, self-expression intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, nature-related intelligence (R=0.36, 0.18, 0.29, 0.36, 0.33, 0.37, 0.37) weak positive correlation was statistically significant (p<0.05). Multivariate linear regression analysis confirmed that emotional intelligence has a 1.19-fold (119%) increase in verbal intelligence score with a statistical significance of P=0.032*. Conclusion: The ability to manage one’s own and others’ emotions is higher than other indicators among the 4 general groups of emotional intelligence. When looking at the average of multifaceted intelligence, the proportion of physical intelligence, self-expression intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, and intelligence in relation to nature is relatively high, and the multifaceted intelligence ability of athletes is higher than that of non-athletes. The development of speech intelligence is considered to be the main basis for the development of emotional intelligence.
