Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a commonly spread chronic respiratory disorder, characterized by inflammatory disease and structural changes in bronchiolitis impacted by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Our team is identifying multiple gene polymorphisms related to the risk of lung disorder development. Aim: We aimed to study the association of rs1799750 (MMP1), rs11646643 and rs243864 between the case (181 patients) and control (292 healthy) groups. Age, gender, body mass index, educational status, and environmental pollution showed no differences between the two groups. Materials and Methods: We compared the MMP1 gene rs1799750 polymorphism among 181 case group and 292 control group, totaling 473 people. General information and instrument analysis parameters were obtained from the participants through a questionnaire. To determine rs1799750 of MMP1 gene, rs11646643, and rs243864 of MMP2 polymorphism, the product was amplified by allele-specific polymerase chain reaction with the help of specific primers, and the results were analyzed by scanning in 1.5% agarose gel. Results: Age, gender, body mass index, educational status, and environmental pollution showed no differences between the two groups. However, smoking and parameters of pulmonary function tests had significant differences between the case and control groups. Conclusion: We have found the association of rs243864 (MMP2) with COPD
