Background: Many environmental and hereditary risk factors contribute to the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). There is a need to continue to study the risk factors, early detection and prevention methods that contribute to the development of COPD. Aim: To study the performance of pulmonary ventilation and rs11168070, rs11959427, rs1042719, rs1042720 polymorphisms of ADRB2 gene. Materials and Methods: Therefore, we intended to study rs11168070, rs11959427, rs1042719 and rs1042720 polymorphisms of the ADRB2 gene with COPD by comparing cases and controls. Genotyping was performed with allele specific polymerase chain reaction method. Results: The comparison of smoking-related factors showed a significantly higher risk of COPD, for a current smoker (OR=1.68; 95% CI, 1.08–2.64, p=0.02) and ≥20 COPD (OR=2.9; 95% CI, 1.73–4.88, p<0.001). Heterozygote genotypes of rs1042719 (OR=1.58, 95% CI, 1.06–2.34, p=0.023) and rs1042720 (OR=1.94, 95% CI, 1.21–3.12, p=0.006) polymorphisms, were significantly associated with COPD risk. Conclusion: The result suggests that rs1042719 and rs1042720 of ADRB2 might be the factor to contributing on COPD development.
