Abstract

Background: According to recent studies, women usually develop thin, small wrinkles starting at the age of 25, forehead wrinkles become deeper at the age of 30, and crow’s feet appear in the upper and lower corners of the eyes. From the age of 40, the wrinkles on the mouth triangle become deeper. The facial guashe treatment of traditional Chinese medicine is an effective, and side-effect-free treatment for common skin conditions such as wrinkles on the face and neck, under-eye follicles, dark circles around the eyes, facial pigmentation, and acne. The facial guashe treatment heats the upper and lower layers of the skin and stimulates the production of new skin collagen and elastic fibers. It tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles. Although guashe treatment does not cause scarring or side effects on the skin of the face, researchers still intend to conduct further studies on its safety and its effectiveness. Therefore we conducted a study to evaluate the effects of facial guashe treatment on facial wrinkles in Mongolian women. Aim: To study the effects of guasha treatment on facial wrinkles in Mongolian women Objectives: 1. To study the results of guasha treatment for wrinkles on the forehead and outer side of the eyes in Mongolian women aged 35-55. 2. To study the results of massage therapy for wrinkles on the forehead and outside of the eyes. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in the outpatient department of the Central Hospital of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 22. We took photographs of wrinkles using a mobile phone while sitting upright and evaluated them before and after treatment using a 5-point evaluation method (Lemperle scale). A total of 30 customers aged 35-55 years were treated with guasha treatment for wrinkles on the outer corner of the right eye and 30 customers were treated with facial massage 7-10 times, 15-20 minutes each time. Treatment was done 7-10 times (1 course of treatment). Results: It was found that the total number of patients who had the right and left eye wrinkles declined. For example, the right eye’s superficial wrinkles were reduced to 4 (13.33%), moderate deep wrinkles decreased to 3 (10%), and deep wrinkles declined to 0 (0%), which were statistically significant. (p= 0.0001). After the treatment of the left eye, 14 (46.67%) women’s wrinkles disappeared. After the treatment for forehead wrinkles, the number of women without wrinkles increased by 40%, and superficial and moderate wrinkles decreased by 10%. After the facial massage therapy, the wrinkles of the eyes and forehead were not significantly decreased. (p=0.31 for right eye, p=1.0 for left eye, p=0.0625 for forehead).
