Background: The Mongolian guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic heart failure, early detection for heart failure by echocardiography is recommended from patients with elevated plasma natriuretic peptide >125 pg/mL. Elevated plasma natriuretic peptide is associated with arterial hypertension, cardiovascular disease and mortality; and have become important diagnostic tools for chronic heart failure. Aim: This study is purposed to determine plasma natriuretic peptide in patients who diagnosed with arterial hypertension and correlate with echocardiographic parameters. Materials and Methods: The study involved total 112 participants who met inclusion criteria and conducted in the 3 districts of Ulaanbaatar city. All subjects were evaluated by questionnaire contained chronic heart failure and cardiovascular risk factors. Moreover, we checked anthropometry measurements, plasma NT-proBNP and echocardiographic parameters. Results: We measured plasma natriuretic peptide by Getein 11000 immunofluorescence quantitative analyzer, the elevated level of natriuretic peptide >125 pg/mL was 19 (16.9%) among all study participants of 112. The left ventricular mass and left ventricular mass index were measured by echocardiography for all study participants. Elevated biomarkers were 5.3% (n=6) in patients with left ventricular hypertrophy 22.0% (n=24) and 4.5% (n=5) in patients with left ventricular dilatation 24.8% (n=27). Left ventricular mass and left ventricular mass index, left ventricular end-systolic diameter, left ventricular end-diastolic diameters, left ventricular end-systolic volume and left ventricular end-diastolic volume were differed significantly. Conclusion: 1. The natriuretic peptides is increased in 16.9% of patient with arterial hypertension, stage II and is the most promising early detection biomarker for heart failure. 2. Among the study participants who diagnosed with arterial hypertension, the left ventricular hypertrophy and the diastolic dysfunction were common by echocardiography. 3. The left ventricular dilatation (p>0.004) and the left ventricular mass index (p>0.005) are increased in participants with positive natriuretic test.
