To review 60 years of the historical development of the Dornogobi Medical School -a branch school of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS)

Abstract

Background: This study was conducted based on chronological and historical development documentary sources with the pride of a community of healthcare professionals, seniors, graduates, and students, for future generations. Aim: To periodically overview the historical development of the Dornogobi Medical School, MNUMS Materials and Methods: Government Archives of Mongolia, Archive department of Legal OfÏce of the Dornogobi Governmental Administration OfÏce, Archive of Dornogobi Local Government Representative OfÏce, Administration affairs, Human Resource affairs, and Archive department of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, anniversary historical books, documents, and memorial materials were used in our study and the study was conducted from 29 August 2022 to 10 September 2022. Results: The following information was included in the 60th - anniversary history of the Dornogobi Medical School: 1. Vocational school of medicine (1962-1991), 2. Medical College of Medical University (1992-2004), 3. Medical Research and training center of Medical University 4. Medical College of Health Science University (2004-2010), 5. Dornogobi Medical School –a branch school of the Health Science University (2010-2013), 6. Dornogobi Medical School –a branch school of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (starting 2014). The Dornogobi Medical School started with 8 full-time faculty members, 12 workers, and 124 students while there are currently 52 full-time faculty members, 12 part-time teachers, 26 workers, and 600 students. Conclusion: The Dornogobi Medical School – a branch school of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences has developed through 6 stages of history from the Vocational School of Medicine to The Dornogobi Medical School – a branch school of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences which defines its values for the mission, famous for ‘’Dornogobi Medical School’’ in not only region but also in Mongolia, trained 8081 health care professions and became a school which is a mining of academic education which combines traditional and modern approaches during past 60 years.
