Background: Infection with the protozoan parasite Trichomonas vaginalis is the most common nonviral sexually transmitted infection. This study was designed to compare the sensitivity of culture methods and with polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Aim: To investigate asymptomatic infection of T. vaginalis in men. Materials and Methods: 18-65 aged 88 males, who visited the men’s hospitals, were involved in this study. We identified asymptomatic trichomoniasis in semen, urine and urethral swab samples by culture and urine by PCR methods, respectively. Results: In this study, we first examined urine, urethral swab and semen checked by culture method. Infection rate of trichomoniasis is 22.7% (20/88). Next, we determined infection of T. vaginalis in 88 urine samples by PCR. From total 88 men, 26.1% (23/88) were positive for infection of T.vaginalis. Our results suggest that PCR high sensitivity than culture method for detecting asymptomatic trichomoniasis in men. Conclusion: 1. T. vaginalis detection in men is improved when multiple urogenital specimens are tested by culture method. 22.7%, (p<0.05) of total customers were T. vaginalis infection. 2. T. vaginalis infection were found in 26.1%, (p<0.005) of all customers by PCR. Molecular biological method more sensitivity for asymptomatic infection of T. vaginalis in men.
