Background: Gastric ulcer is one of the most common disorders considering the gastrointestinal tract, it affects 5% of the population around the world, so its prevention and management are considered very important challenges. Researchers have revealed several causes of gastric ulcer; these include an imbalance between aggressive and intrinsic defensive factors. Gastric ulcer is a very common gastrointestinal disease that may lead to dangerous complications and even death. Aim: treatment Effect of Solcoseryl on indomethacin induced gastric ulcer on the histopathological changes Materials and Methods: This study was conducted to evaluate the prophylactic effect of Cacalia hastate.L, against indomethacin [INDO]-induced gastric ulcer. Male BALB/c mouse were divided into four groups: normal control, ulcer control (INDO only), solcoseryl before INDO. Each mouse was given the agent orally (by gavage) daily for 28 days prior to induction of ulcer by oral dosing with INDO. Results: After the experiment, the mice in the study group were euthanized and had their stomach removed. The pointbased assessment of ulcer and stomach damage resulted in 4.1 points in respect of the control group that shows pathological model was proven. The mice stomachs had a substantial growth of bloody vessels and lacerated ulcers. As for comparison (p=0.005) of the study groups, 2,91 points were calculated in the Solcoseryl group. These parameters represent the degree of ulcer, damage. Moreover, they indicate that ulcer was treated in the Solcoseryl group, that shows the mice stomach had a protective mechanism. Conclusions: 1. Indomethacin - induced gastric ulceration had occurred for patients who had used more than 3 days. 2. The results showed that oral solcoseryl solution (42,5 mg/kg body weight) has anti-ulcer activity. Moreover, gastric mucosa was repaired after mucosal injury by mucosal restitution and reepithelisation by sloughing off the damaged cells.
