Abstract

Background: Globally, bacterial infections are recognized as serious health issue. New bacterial mutation, antibiotic resistance and outbreaks of pathogenic strains etc. are increasing, and thus, development of more efÏcient antibacterial agents is demand of the time. Zinc oxide is known for its antibacterial properties from the time immemorial. Therefore, the development of bio-compatible, bio-safe and environmentally friendly nanoparticles is a matter of urgency for research in the field of nanotechnology. Aim: Honey based zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by green synthesis method. Materials and Methods: Its antibacterial activity was evaluated by disc diffusion method. Results: The obtained nanoparticle produced a clear inhibition effect on growth of S.aureus, E.coli and K.neumoniae. Also, minimal inhibition concentration of ZnONP against S.aureus, E.coli and K.neumoniae was equal to 13 mg/mL. Conclusion: The result showed that our newly synthesized honey based zinc oxide nanoparticles are effective tool against S.aureus, E.coli and K.neumoniae related infections.
