Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is constellation of disturbances including glucose intolerance, central obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemia present in several forms, depending upon the combination of the different components of the syndrome. It is well accepted that the MetS increases the risk for the development of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. Chronic low grade inflammation is crucial pathogenic factor for MetS, and filtration serum inflammatory substances using blood efferent therapy is widely used in many clinics. Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of efferent therapy in MetS patients according to their immune parameters. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study were compared levels of serum cytokines and products of lipid metabolism in serum of 45 patients (16 males, 29 females, age 33-65, mean age 50.0±8.0). In all patients were diagnosed MetS according to diagnostic criteria of recommendation of WHO. Patients were passed the efferent therapy using hemabsorbtion method (Roche COBAS c501, Germany). Efferent therapy was performed from June to October 2020, in Gegee-med hospital, Ulaanbaatar city, and blood samples were collected before and after the therapy. Serum cytokines (IL-4, IL-6, IL-10 and IFNγ; pg/μL) measured by ELISA (DRG, Germany) and level of serum TC, TG, glucose, HDL (mmol/L), LDL (mg/dL) and CRP (mg/L) by turbidimetric assay. Results: Level of cytokines and lipid metabolites was not correlated with gender, age, education of patients. There were found significant decrease in mean value of cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose, LDL and CRP levels. Conclusion: The efferent therapy decreased the total serum cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose, LDL, CRP level content of the patients with metabolic syndrome. Whether there was a correlation between preoperative cytokines in the study. The IL-4 content was moderately correlated with the IL-6 content and weakly correlated with the IFNγ content, while the IL10 content was moderately correlated with the IL6 content.
