Abstract

Background: Atrial fibrillation can increase a person's risks for stroke and related heart problems. People with atrial fibrillation have 2.5 to 3 times greater risk for ischemic stroke, 5 to 6 times greater risk for heart failure and significantly greater risk of mortality. The study estimates that 3.11% of inpatients Shastin hospital in the Mongolia had atrial fibrillation in 2005. Aim: To study the cardiovascular risk factors and epidemiology of atrial fibrillation in Ulaanbaatar city. 1. Screening of atrial fibrillation among adult population 2. Compare of cardiovascular risk factors of atrial fibrillation Material and method: The study population consisted of 4515 adults random selected from 8 districts of Ulaanbaatar city. The all people were detect AF by Microlife blood pressure monitor and examined weight and height. Questionnaire was used, asking about complaints and risk factors of atrial fibrillation. Result: We studied 49 patients newly diagnosed atrial fibrillation by Microlife blood pressure monitor from age 20-69 years 4515 people. The mean age for atrial fibrillation was 39.7±2.6 male 23 (43.9%) and female 26 (5,1%) of the participants. Atrial fibrillation were higher in the age group20-29 years without compare of gender. Participant’s body mass index were 44.9% normal, 53.1% overweight, 28.6% smoking and under 30 years groups alcochol consumption were lesser than other age groups (р<0.01), physical inactivity man were higher than women in diagnosed atrial fibrillation. Conclusion: 1. The prevalence of atrial fibrillation was 1.1% in Ulaanbaatar city adults 3. Diagnosed atrial fibrillation people had obesity, smoking and physical inactivity. An increase of body mass index, smoking and physical inactivity are getting a risk factor of atrial fibrillation.
