Digestive system diseases are the fourth leading cause of death in Mongolia in 2019. Cirrhosis and fibrosis account for 55% of gastrointestinal deaths. Globally, silymarin is widely used in the treatment of liver disease because of high active in treatment and low side effects.1 Silymarin strengthens cell membrane by activating the production of phospholipids and proteins in damaged liver cells. Silymarin is widely used in alcohol-induced liver disease, liver cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, toxins and drug-induced liver disease.2 Carduus crispus L is a highly pharmacologically active and widely used in medicine, containing alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, coumarins, and tannins.3The standardization of medicinal plant raw material quality is crucial for the proper selection of medicinal plant raw materials for the production of highly active, domestic herbal medicine using the biologically active action of the plant Carduus crispus L. containing the biologically active substance silymarin. In our study, we selected Carduus crispus L. to identify silymarin in all parts of the plant, to determine the quality of the raw material, and to determine the content of the biologically active substance silymarin in order to determine whether it is possible to use not only plant seeds but also aerial parts as raw materials to protect plant resources.
