Background: Recently, Many companies have developed new generation automated systems based on different technologies to automate urinalysis. The UF-5000 is fully automated urine analyzer, which has been developed by Sysmex and is currently being used in our laboratory. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the new platform Sysmex UN series and manual microscopic examination. Methods: 150 people who served the MJH of the MNUMS received permission to participate in this research. The fresh, first morning, clean catch mid-stream urine samples were collected in accordance to standard operating instructions for urinalysis. Urine samples were stained with Sternheimer-Malbin and counted by red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC) and renal tubular epithelial cells (RTEC) under a microscope using a Fuchs-Rosenthal chamber. Results: A total of 150 samples were collected and analyzed in this study. The average age was 44.3±11.6 and gender by 23.3% (n=35) were male and 76.6% (n=115) were female. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of sediment analysis compared to the manual microscopy are substantial agreement and RTEC parameter kappa value was slight agreement. Conclusion: The performance of the UF-5000 analyzer was compared with the performance of the reference microscope, and the RBC parameters were moderate, the WBC parameters were above average, and the RTEC parameters were faintly consistent.
