Abstract

Introduction: Updated pathological staging of cervical cancer which helps to increasethe fertility sparing surgery options for cervical cancer patients. The main purpose of the treatment is to remove the cervical lesion with adequate surgical margins as well as the whole transformation zone. Material and methods: We performed a retrospective review of the medical records of 141 patients with early-stage cervical cancer who underwent cervical conization between 2013 and 2014. The data processing of the result were implemented by SPSS 23.0 program. Results: Conization was performed in 141 cases, resulting in a recurrence rate of 14.2% and cured 85.8%. The endocervical margin was involved in 22.8 % vs 5.2% of ectocervical margin. Recurrence affected 56.3% of cases presenting involved margins, recurrence not affected 95.1% in the cases without involved margins. Conclusion: Involved margins are associated with a greater reccurrence rate for early stage cervical cancer.
