Abstract

Introduction: In the UK, chronic laryngitis is 6.6% per 100,000 population1. According to a study conducted in Russia, chronic laryngitis accounts for 8.4-10% of all ear, nose and throat diseases, and chronic laryngitis accounts for 5.5-7.7% of all laryngeal diseases7. Studies have shown that malnutrition, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol abuse, and obesity are risk factors for metabolic syndrome2. These risks may also be factors in the development of chronic inflammatory diseases of the larynx. In our country, there is a study on the relationship between metabolic syndrome and chronic nephritis, but the relationship between chronic ENT diseases has not been studied. Goal: To study the relationship between the detection of metabolic syndrome in adults with chronic laryngitis. Method: The survey covered 141 people aged 15-85 who were admitted to the outpatient clinic of the Specialized Otolaryngology Hospital from June 2020 to March 2021, using a hospital-based instant model, who met the criteria for inclusion and exclusion. Result: A total of 141 people were diagnosed with chronic laryngitis (J37.0), which accounted for 3.9% of all outpatient examinations. In terms of gender, these clients were 69 men (48.9%) and 72 women (51.0%). The average life expectancy of all clients was ± 46. In both sexes, the number of metabolic syndrome indicators influences the prevalence of chronic laryngeal inflammation (P value = 0.047 in men and = 0.023 in women).
