Background: Medicinal plants are the Nature’s gift to human beings to help them pursue a desease-free healthy life. The Heliantus tuberosus L. (Jerusalem artichoke, Topinambour) is a perennial plant that belongs to the sunflower family. It was native to north America and cultivated for producing health tea in Mongolia last few years. Objective: The goal of this study was to determine certain bioavtive compounds in Heliantus tuberosus L. Method: We determined total phenolic content from Helianthus tuberosus L. aeral parts and tubers by using Folin Ciocalteu method. The total inulin content assay was performed by using phenol-sulfuric acid method. Results: The total phenolic content was 2.76±0.05 mg (gallic acid equivalents g-1 dry substence) in Helianthus tuberosus L. tubers and 1.25±0.01 mg in its aeral parts. According to our experimental results, the total amount of inulin in Helianthus tuberosus L. tubers was 67.22±0.05 %. Furthermore the amount of inulin from aeral parts of Helianthus tuberosus L. was 30% in our study. Conclusions: The total amount of inulin and phenolic content was 45-55 % higher in Helianthus tuberosus L. tubers compared to in aeral parts of Helianthus tuberosus L.
