In recent years, the usage of oral films is increasing on the world market. Oral films have many advantages such as high bioavailability, faster absorption and stability, easy to transport, no water necessary for application, pleasant taste and skips pre-systemic elimination. It suitable for administration to pediatric and geriatric patient population where the difÏculty of swallowing. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce the oral films technology in Mongolia. For preparing oral films base, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, xanthangum and carbomer were used as the film former; various amounts of glycerin as plasticizer, citric acid as saliva stimulator, methylparaben and propylparaben as preservatives, and sucrose as flavoring agent. The bases of oral films were prepared by solvent casting method and evaluated its quality in terms of appearance, average weight, and disintegration. The oral films were 2x3 cm in size and 100 μm thick. It was determined appropriate to use 1-2% hydroxypropylmethylcellulose as the film former and 5-7% glycerin as a plasticizer. A technological study has been continued to develop oral film which has analgesic effect.
