Abstract

Background: According to the Mongolian Traditional Medicine theory, “Constitutional types of body'' is formed when the male and female gamete fuse, developed, matured, during embryogenesis, and define individual's personality throughout life. Purpose: The aim of the study was to study of the effect of AR 4 in patients with arterial hypertension depending on body constitutional types. Materials and Methods: Patients with arterial hypertension without changes from target organs, were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Body constitutional types were identified by the observational method of Mongolian Traditional Medicine. Patients took the aqueous extract of AR4 1.5 g twice a day for 14 days in the morning and evening. Weight and arterial pressure of participants was measured at 14 and 28th day of the treatment. Results: Compared to the pretreatment results, weight and body mass index was clearly decreased (p≤0.05) by AR4 in patients with arterial hypertension at 14th and 28th days of treatment, except patients with Shar constitutional types. The mean systolic blood pressure was 140.75±12.70 mmHg, diastolic pressure was 91.25±8.25 mmHg in prior to treatment, whereas it was significantly reduced by AR4 (p≤0.00001). Also, there were difference in arterial pressure level at 14th and 28th day of the treatment with AR4. Conclusion: Depending on the constitutional types of the body arterial pressure was increased differentially in hypertensive patients, AR4 has been shown to lower blood pressure, on the constitutional types of the body and sex. AR4 decreases blood pressure, regardless of the constitutional types.
