Objectives: The aim of this study is to find out the mean values for selective angular measurements of the facial soft tissue profile in Mongolian children and establish age and gender-specific lateral cephalometric soft tissue measurement norms. Methods: Cephalograms of 541 subjects (225 male and 316 females) that were obtained at ages 6-15 years were used. Subjects were orthodontically untreated Mongolians and had Class I dentoskeletal relationships (ideal overjet and overbite). Powell and Riketts is soft-tissue cephalometric analysis was done on these cephalograms. Results: The GI'-Sn'-Pog' angles are constant during the age of 6-9 but decreased at the age of 10-13 and increasing since the age of 13. As the age keep increasing the distance between GI'-N'-Tn, Tn-N'-Pog', N'-Tn'-Pog' angles and E line-TUL decreased, Tn-Pog':Me'-NTP angle increased, Ls-Sn-Col angle relatively constant, the distance of E line-TLL increased at the age of 6-12 and decreasing at the age of 13. Conclusion: Our results showed that soft tissue measurement was gender-dependent. Therefore, gender-specific differences of soft tissue profile should be taken into account during diagnosis and treatment planning.
