Background: The dental caries and the root canal treatment success depends on the anatomical feature of the tooth cavity of the human. The human first permanent molars are located in the back side of all primary teeth and first non-succeeding tooth to erupt into the oral cavity. Therefore, it is mostly treated by the root canal treatment of restorative treatment due to the dental caries and their complications. The scientists advised that the roentgen diagnostic examination was done to determine the tooth cavity shape and features, especially the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) method is the most advanced version. So, we decided to study the cavity morphometry of the first permanent molar in the CBCT image among Mongolian population. Aims: The aim of this study was to determine the cavity morphometry of the first permanent molar among the Mongolian population using Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and methods: This study design was a retrospective study. We selected CBCT images according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and determined the cavity shape by using OnDemand3D software. The shape of every root canal of the first permanent molars was classified according to the Vertucci, 2005 and the highest point of pulp horn by the visual analogical measurement. The study was approved by the Ethical Committee of MNUMS. Statistical analyses were done using IBM SPSS version 27 software. Results: We analyzed 303 teeth of 99 CBCT images. When we evaluated the root canal shape by the Vertucci of the maxillary first permanent molars, there were 90.4% of type I, 7.8% type IV, 0.7% of type II and V. For mandibular first permanent molars, there were 57.7% of type I, 32% of type IV, 6.3% of type V and 5.1% of type III. The highest point of pulp horn was found 97.3% in MB side for maxillary first molars, 98% in MB side for mandibular first molars. Conclusion: The dominant shape of the root canal was type I by Vertucci and the highest pulp horn in MB side of the permanent first molar teeth among 13-62 years old Mongolian people on CBCT images.
