Abstract

Background: In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has been increasingly applied in the field of traditional medicine to promote innovation in research, education, and clinical practice, thereby enhancing the diversity and quality of healthcare services. Accordingly, there is a growing need for future professionals to possess not only domain-specific knowledge but also the capacity to effectively integrate it with modern technological solutions. Aim: To assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding artificial intelligence among students of traditional medicine and to examine the relationships among these variables. Materials and Methods: A total of 256 students enrolled in the traditional medicine program at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) were included in this study. Participants’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding artificial intelligence were assessed using a scoring system and categorized into levels. Quantitative data were analyzed using R4.5.2 software. Results: The mean age of the participants was 20.9±2.1 years; 20.0% were male and 80.0% were female. Assessment of participants’ knowledge of artificial intelligence showed that 21.9% had a moderate level of knowledge, whereas 55.9% were classified as having inadequate knowledge. The majority of participants demonstrated a positive attitude (84.4%), while 65.6% lacked established practices. Correlation analysis revealed a statistically significant association among knowledge, attitudes, and practices (r=0.36, p<0.001). Conclusions: 1. The study found that participants’ knowledge regarding artificial intelligence was insufÏcient. However, the majority of participants (84.4%) demonstrated a developing level of attitude toward artificial intelligence. 2. A statistically significant correlation was identified among participants’ knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding artificial intelligence (r = 0.36, p < 0.001), indicating that improving knowledge may play an important role in enhancing attitudes and practices.
