Abstract

An outbreak of unexplained pneumonia was reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, People's Republic of China in late December 2019 and on January 7, 2020 and a new strain of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) was identified. As of January 31, 2020, the infection has spread rapidly to 20 countries around the world, and the World Health Organization has declared it an “international public health emergency”. It has been reported that healthcare workers make up 2-3% of the world's population. About 14 percent of the reported cases of COVID-19 in the World Health Organization (in some countries, up to 35%) are in health care workers. Due to the quality and availability of information, it is not possible to determine whether health workers are infected in the workplace or in the community. About 7,000 health workers infected with COVID-19 have died. Therefore, the basis for this study was to determine the need for training by assessing the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of all health workers at the Second State Central Hospital about coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
