Background: Urogenital disorder is one of the five common morbidity in Mongolia. Renal size is an important parameter among children with renal disorder. Renal size can be measured with several different radiology examinations. Ultrasound is the initial imaging method preferred over other examinations in pediatrics thanks to its advantages such as radiation free, low cost and mobility. Objectives: Our aim of this study was to determine the relationship of the normal kidney ultrasound with anthropometric parameters among children. Materials and methods: We examined 1240 children aged 10-15 from 4 districts and 8 provinces. Renal size was determined using ultrasound and compared with anthropometric indices. Results: Renal measurements correlated well with body height, weight, arm girdle, chest breadth, waist, pelvic breadth and BMI. When comparing the ultrasonography to anthropometric measurements, renal length correlated well with body height (r=0.525), renal width correlated well with chest breadth (r=393) and renal parenchymal thickness correlated well with waist (r=309). Conclusions: For the evaluation of the renal size, one must consider the physical growth and development of the child. In order to evaluate age appropriate renal size in clinical practice, anthropometric indices might be used. ö Í
