Introduction: Asthma can be effectively treated, and most patients can achieve good control of their asthma. The results of treatment are influenced by many factors: the beliefs between the doctor and the patient, the adherence to the prescriptions, the expectations of the patient, duration of the treatment. Purpose: Identify some factors that have contributed asthma treatment. Materials and methods: Among asthmatics, 15 completed the Asthma quality of life questionnaire S (AQLQS) which is a 20-item self-administered questionnaire with Likert scale responses was developed to measure quality of life in adults with asthma. A total scale score together with subscale score for symptoms, mood disturbance, social activity, concern for health were calculated by addition of item scores and also completed patient’s asthma knowledge questionnaire (PAKQ). The pulmonary function was determined by the Chest 105 spirometry from Japan under the ATS-ERS guidelines. Peak inspiratory flow measured by the In-Check dial G 16 (30-60 L/min) the pMDI (Foster) application was used for the average dose, and the total dose for the whole year was 6 units. Results: Of the 15 asthma patients who received outpatient and inpatient departments of State Third Hospital were included in the survey. 26.7%(4) of them were men. Middle age was 55±12 (male 54±13, female 55±12). Asthma control test scores were 11±4 (13±5, 11±4). Asthma severity was defined by the spirometry. FEV1 in 53.3% (8) was >60% or moderate and in 46.7% (7) of cases was <60% or severe (in 50% of males and in 27.6% (3) of females). The knowledge about asthma in 53.3%, about asthma triggers –in 80%, about diagnosis – in 60% of patients was well. But knowledge about the treatment was not enough. During the asthma attacks Dexamethasone and Aminophylline were injected more than 36 pcs / year (male 1 and female 5) in 6 cases (40%).FEV1% in patients who did not use Dexamethasone and Aminophylline was 59±12.2%, in patients used Dexamethasone and Aminophylline up to 36 pieces - 56±30%, and over 36 pieces - 56±17%. AQLQ by Cronbach's alpha was 0.91 in 15 subjects. AQLQ were evaluated by median which were scored by symptoms 18±4.8, mood disturbance 15±5.4, social activity 20±8.6, concern for health 23±8.2. Conclusion: Asthmapatient’s knowledgeabout asthma treatment was inadequate. There is also a high rate of using injection of Dexamethazon and Aminophyllin. In addition, 50% of those who use more than 3 canister of Ventolin per year use up to 12 canisters. Social activity, concern for health worse had lower than symptoms and mood disturbance.
