Introduction: Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) after high-dose chemotherapy has been shown to achieve better overall survival compared with conventional chemotherapy in randomized trials of patients with chronic hematologic malignancies. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine influencing factors neutrophilic recovery in ASCT and detect the relationship between transplanted CD34+ cell dose and post-transplantation recovery of absolute neutrophil count. Materials and Methods: We present a retrospective and prospective series of AHSCT 19 patients at median age 41 years. The median numbers of CD34+ cell was 5.38*106 cells/kg (range 1.87-13.7*106 cells/kg). In patients infused with <4*106 cells/kg (n=7), >4*106 cells/kg (n=11) of CD34+ cell, the median time to neutrophil engraftment was 14.2 days, 11.8 days, respectively. Results: We observe that CD34+ count was clearly associated with neutrophil recovery (p=0.03). CD34+ cell count decreased by 0.7*106 cells/kg (p=0.01) per each additional chemotherapy cycles. Conclusion: Neutrophil recovery depends on the type of disease, chemotherapy regimen, number of chemotherapy cycles and infused CD34+ cell counts.
