Abstract

Background: The International Guidelines for Nutritional Treatment for Acute pancreatitis consider oral feeding to be more effective than enteral feeding and use enteral feeding only when oral contraindications are contraindicated or not possible. In a survey of Mongolian surgeons, 52 percent said they used to oral feeding in the early stages of Acute pancreatitis, regardless of severity. There are plenty studies of mild and severe grades of acute pancreatitis in other countries, but there are no comparative studies of moderate grade, and the results remain unclear. Aim: The aim of the study was to study the comparison between the oral and parenteral nutrition of patients with moderate acute pancreatitis. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted from February 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022 in the Surgery Department of Natul Hospital, which provides medical services to the population of Songinokhairkhan district, using a clinical-based, centralized, randomly distributed pilot study. Results: During the treatment period in the surgical ward, the total number of hospital days was shorter than in the oral feeding group (p<0.039). Conclusion: The results of this study show that oral feeding is safer and more effective than enteral feeding in patients with moderate Acute pancreatitis.
