Testing for COVID 19 using RT PCR
Keywords:
Covid 19 testing, SARS-Cov-2Abstract
Nucleic acid amplification tests are the primary means of identifying acute infections caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2). Laboratory diagnosis of infections caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2) is accomplished by performing nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) on respiratory tract specimens. Currently, there are different types of diagnostic test. We have implemented rapid diagnostic test and RT-PCR tests in Department of Laboratory in Second State Central Hospital of Mongolia. We aimed to implement nucleic acid amplification tests, which confirms infection of coronavirus 2 (SARS-Cov-2). We prepared Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) of Cepheid Xpert Xpress SARS-Cov-2 and performed tests according to SOP. Totally, 23 whole blood samples, had reported negative results all samples, which examined by rapid test. 11 upper respiratory tract specimens, for instance nasopharyngeal swab was analyzed by real time PCR testing, which results were negative. It has been approved method that for SARS-Cov-2 testing can be in short time and safety.
